King Robert the Bruce |
Every year since 2002 the National Trust for Scotland have held a re-enactment of the Battle of Bannockburn of 1314, on the actual site of the battle. Intended to raise the profile and funds for a new centre for this historic battle we have since then provided the image of King Robert the Bruce, together with other characters, and a re-enactment of the famous engagement between King Robert of the English Knight Sir Henry de Bohun.
This photograph shows Chris Winstanley on Gwyn Fawr, sadly no longer with us, Stirling Castle can be seen in the background. Gwyn's role has now been taken over by my black, Uther. Bruce alledgedly rode a grey palfrey for this famous engagement, not his Warhorse, nevertheless we still need another grey. Our image of the King on his Warhorse was modelled on Pilkintons 1964 statue of Bruce on the site of the battle, below.
On 25th and 26th October (Anniversary of both Agincourt and the Charge of the Light Brigade) with others and using our kit and these images, we worked with Noble Gate Productions of Edingburgh to film a re-creation of this battle for National Trust for Scotland. To be relaesed early 2009 at the Heritage Centre in Bannockburn, I am looking forward to seeing the results. |
